WHAT’S THE STORY OF THE MAP OF THE SOUL ALBUM?
A heartfelt story of BTS and their search for their “real selves,” BTS will release their fourth studio album, “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7” on February 21.
The MAP OF THE SOUL series is the honest and heartfelt story of BTS’ journey to finding out who they indeed are. The first chapter of this narrative, “MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA,” sung about the world and the pleasure of love, as well as the revelation of self in front of others; “MAP OF THE SOUEL: 7” now turns inward to explore the shadow within in an open acknowledgment that it too is a component of oneself.
“MAP OF THE SOUL: 7” looks back at BTS’s seven-year history as one unit. The road wasn’t always smooth, and they faced particular challenges in their rise to worldwide superstardom. Now that the scars left by those challenges are considered part of their genuine selves, BTS understands that to tell their narrative about discovering their “real and whole selves,” they must first accept both “the self I want to show” and “the self I want to despise.”
BTS is poised to continue its expansion as an artist with the release of “MAP OF THE SOUL: 7,” which will combine fine art and popular art through such projects as the worldwide art project CONNECT, BTS, and the “Black Swan” film, which features a modern dance adaptation of the early-release song.
